There when
needed
Why choose us?
Twenty minutes away is still too far at lunchtime
Bear is full of families who live close to a parent and still cannot be there when it matters. You can be at the house in
twenty minutes on a Saturday. You cannot be there at half past twelve on a Tuesday, when the tablets should have
been taken and nobody is sure whether they were.
That gap is where we come in. Not to take over, and not to move anyone anywhere. Just to be there in the hours you cannot be
Newer houses, a different set of risks
Much of Bear is newer than the rest of the county, and the homes are easier to grow old in. Wider doorways, often a
bedroom on the ground floor, no cobbled step at the front.
The risk here is rarely the building. It is the driving, and it is the quiet. When someone stops being confident on Route
40, the shops, the church and the friends all go at the same time, and the decline that follows is not physical. Families
notice the house is tidier than it used to be and the phone is ringing less.
What a caregiver does on a normal visit
Makes a proper lunch and sits down to eat it with them. Checks the medication has been taken rather than assuming.
Puts a wash on. Drives them to the pharmacy, or to an appointment in Glasgow or Newark, and waits. Talks to them
about something other than their health.
We can also do personal care where it is needed, including help with washing and dressing, and respite for a family
member who has been carrying it all.
Don't hesitate to contact us.
